Assessing talent readiness for promotion

Central Group operates across various industries and is one of the leaders in retail, property development, brand management, hospitality, food and beverage, and digital lifestyle sectors of Thailand.

Challenge

 

This organization has identified different levels of talents and would like to undertake a process of validating its talent’s readiness for promotion as well as determining the developmental priorities of each talent. As such, this organisation approached FLI to design a development centre that is robust, reliable and reflective of real-life simulations as experienced by the executives of this organisation. This organisation also requires its talents to be assessed against the new leadership competency framework that has just been launched in the organisation. On top of this, this organisation would like to deliver the development centres internally, thereby requiring rigorous assessor and DC manager training along with detailed assessor and DC manager guides.

Solution

 

FLI designed and rolled out two development centres for this organisation – one for the General Manager/AVP level and one for the VP/SVP level with the support of our consultants in Singapore and Thailand. For the launch of each development center, it includes the following element:

​

  • 1-day DC manager training

  • 1-day assessor training

  • 1-day development centre comprising of 5 simulation exercises

  • 1-day development workshop including feedback and coaching

​

Impact 

 

The development centres that FLI designed have allowed the organization to:

​

  • Assess its talents against the standards in the new leadership competency framework

  • Determine its talents’ readiness for promotion to next level leadership role

  • Create an individualised development plan (IDP) for each talent over the next 1-2 years to accelerate their development to the next level
